Thailand Drug Offences

Drug laws in Thailand are strict and enforced by Thai police. If you ever thought that being found with some ‘weed’ is not bad – well it will get you a stiff sentence, deportation and possible blacklisting. Drugs laws are tough in Asia. If you have even taken a flight to Malaysia before you land they will warn you that drugs can get you the death penalty.

Thailand Drug OffencesThis without a doubt shows how serious countries in Asia are with drug enforcement. What you might consider ‘innocent’ in Holland will get you into trouble in Asia. Of course with the location of Thailand being part of the ‘Golden Triangle’ drugs will always be a problem.

Much was made on the war on drugs in Thailand and the governments move for compulsory rehabilitation while in prison for drug users. The Psychotropic Substances Act is a law designed to regulate certain mind-altering drugs. You will of course note that Valium is a Schedule 4 drug and if you are ever found with Valiums you would need to show a prescription in order to avoid arrest and prosecution. Arem is also illegal without a prescription and is a Schedule 3 drug. Don’t do drugs in Thailand and if you are ever caught, be certain to obtain expert legal council to defend you.
